If you are planning a wedding then you know there are a lot of things that you have to take into consideration. Since there are so many things that you have to address, it’s only natural that some of the “little” things get overlooked. For instance, children often aren’t thought of when a wedding is being planned. Sure, the bride spends some time choosing the flower girl dress and ring bearer suit for the ceremony, but that’s usually about it.
If you aren’t expecting a lot of kids at your wedding then you don’t need to spend a lot of time thinking about them. However, if you have a lot of friends with children, you should definitely take this into consideration…especially if you want your friends (with kids) to attend the wedding! The most important thing you need to think about in regards to your wedding and kids is the venue.
You will want your wedding to be held at a kid friendly place to ensure everyone is able to enjoy themselves. This doesn’t mean you need to go to Disney World to get married. It just means that you will want to choose a venue where there are options available for entertaining the kids. Below are a few suggestions.
A Park Wedding: If you have always dreamed of getting married outside, then consider getting married at one of your favorite parks. Parks are great because they have plenty of space for an outdoor wedding and a playground isn’t usually going to be too far away from where the wedding/reception will be held. This gives parents with young children the ability to enjoy the wedding and also keep their kiddos happy too…which will make your special day even better!
A Multiple-Room Reception Hall: If you have already found the perfect place for your wedding but are planning to have the reception somewhere else, then make sure you choose a reception hall where there are multiple rooms…or at least a place where you can set up a “kid corner.” Have things for the little kids to do. For instance, coloring books, small games or you might even want to hire someone to entertain the kids like a magician or a professional clown.
Don’t Forget the Babies: Finally, don’t forget the babies and their parents. Many couples with babies forego attending weddings because of everything that has to come with the baby. So, it’s a good idea to have a place where your guests can leave their baby carriers as well as a small area where breastfeeding moms can go to feed their little ones in private.
